Audi is the world’s one of top car brand has produced another sensational car. Audi has balanced the coupe and convertible sides with three models each: the V-8 cars, the V-10s, and the more-powerful V-10 GT versions. As was the case with the GT coupe, only 333 GT Spyders will be produced for worldwide consumption.
Audi has slashed 85kg from the all-wheel drive R8 Spyder’s kerb weight to 1640kg in the GT, mainly with the adoption of cabronfibre for some body panels, the modified front spoiler, fixed rear spoiler and new rear bumper.
Styling changes include add-on parts in titanium grey, a dual lip front splitter, a revised front bumper, red GT badges, round exhaust tailpipes, an enlarged rear diffuser and dark LED taillights behind clear glass. The all-black interior is where the most drastic weight saving has taken place; the addition of new bucket seats saved 31.5kg on their own.Under the hood of the Audi R8 GT Spyder, Audi has used the same engine found in the coupe: a 5.2-liter V10 engine that delivers a total of 560 hp and a peak torque of 398 lbs at 6,500 rpm. The car will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds and can hit a top speed of 196.97 mph. The engine will be mated to an automated six-speed R tronic transmission with two fully automatic modes. In the additional manual mode, the driver can shift gears using the paddles on the steering wheel or by flicking the joystick. At high load and revs, gear changes take only one-tenth of a second. The launch control program manages the starting sprint with high engine speed and precision-control of the tire slip. Audi has also placed a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system in the car that can send additional torque to the front axle. The suspension system includes aluminum double wishbones locate the wheels, and the rack-and-pinion power steering that provides intimate contact with the road. The car sits on 19" wheels combined with large, lightweight carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs.
Like the GT version of the coupe before it, production of the Audi R8 GT Spyder will be capped at 333 units, around 10 per cent of which are likely to be sold in the UK.
